Just noticed the new pricing chart and as usual very confusing. I'm sure you're aware (and to put it nicely), Vuforia has never been particularly good at explaining this stuff.
1. No mention of watermark in chart. I've been with you for a long time, and I understand the free tier has it and the others dont. Maybe you didn't want to discourage people from trying it out, but seems like you should be upfront about it.
2. I have a professional project, an AR book. Usually falls under the Classic Plan, but the description under pro makes it sound like I now need a Pro license for it since it is a commercial product.
3. This is the biggie. How do software updates work now. Only for cloud and pro? I have projects that have years of shelf life. I can no longer update my apps on the Classic Plan when new versions of Vuforia come out? Do I need to buy a new classic plan every time Vuforia fixes a bug?
Hello,
Hello,
Our development license has not changed - you can continue to use Vuforia to develop your app for free. Apps using a development license will include a watermark.
Thanks for the detailed
Thanks for the detailed response. To be fair, the dev license has changed.
It use to be limited to 1000 installs across platforms (but I doubt it was enforced).
If the install limit cap has not been lifted please let me know.
Sorry one more question. Are
Sorry one more question. Are my previous purchased Classic Plans grandfathered in with unlimited updates?
At the time I originally purchased, it was assumed (and your policy) I'd be able to update these apps with Vuforia indefinitely.
And hopefully my final
And hopefully my final question. I noticed image targets are not included in free tier now and it's UDTs only (and I assume ARKit and ARCore soon).
Hey dpizzle,
Hey dpizzle,
I'll answer as much of this as I am able to.
The free license is different from the development license (which still exists).
The development license still has the same restrictions that you describe in this post as it did before.
