I had gone through the new dev page for vuforia 4.0 and saw licence manager head, is this means that vuforia will not be free anymore or only premium features like object recognition are paid?. What would be the pricing like, per app or per account?. Hope basic AR part is free.

Just to answer gfxguru 's previous comment:

Thanks stan i misread ans january 15
Thanks Allesandro for pointing this out 64bit matter.
Another question is about Android. Now Unity have added Intel Binary support, but the Vuforia .so files are compiled for ARM only. For vuforia 4.0 will it have x86 .so files?
Vuforia not free from 4.0?
Vuforia 4.0 will come with "arm" architecture support, so it will not include .so (library) files specifically for the x86 architecture. However, intel-x86 based devices can run "arm-based" apps using arm emulation. This is already the case with Vuforia 3.0.

Please be aware that the dates for 64bit support are tentative and may change.

Thanks AlessandroB, i am aware of the emulation, but the performance was less due to emulation. when i tried to compile to FAT(x86 and ARM) the app crashed and so forced to use ARM only build. So project containing vuforia are ARM only.

The beta licensing page say Developer is - For app development and limited deployment with watermark
I dont know what is that limited deployment, but usually , as metaio does they should allow publishing with watermark, so we are spreading the name of vuforia.

Hi, regarding:

I don't think there is a direct relationship between the price you charge for your published App (e.g. on the App Store) and the pricing scheme of your Vuforia plan.
To be sure however, you can send an inquiry to our sales team:

Is User-defined target considered as a kind of image taget, i.e. does the recognition event counts 1 reco?
I think user-defined target doesn't have a specific target and can't be used in branding. It's usually for free apps. Charging on it would kill this kind of apps.

Update on iOS 64 bit:
Vuforia 4.0 Beta with iOS 64bit support was announced yesterday:

I, too, would like a lot more clarification on this new Vuforia 4.0 and how the pricing is supposed to work, especially
1) what if you don't use cloud based recognition but instead are using a device database?
Vuforia not free from 4.0?
I got this from the sales team a few weeks back:
"Watermarked apps are free and do not incur a reco charge, but this free model will have limitations.
Vuforia not free from 4.0?
So... device database option is not available anymore, and the option of deploy an app (even a commercial one) under the watermarked condition is not possible. Then, this information was a joke?
Vuforia not free from 4.0?
As best I can tell, the device db is still available and unlimited (with the watermark on the free plan).

it's still unclear if we have to pay for a non-watermarked vuforia 4 app without cloud recognition service.....it could all be easy to understand if qualcom made a clear statement about this.... I'm starting to think it's a strategy
