Vuforia not free from 4.0?

I had gone through the new dev page for vuforia 4.0 and saw licence manager head, is this means that vuforia will not be free anymore or only premium features like object recognition are paid?. What would be the pricing like, per app or per account?. Hope basic AR part is free.

i saw the licence manager page and it is per app :

Professional Plan

For apps with <10,000 recos/month across device and cloud databases

So vuforia is charging for every app deployment and also its counting the recos of device database?

As gfxguru said, there is no posibility for developing with Vuforia for free anymore since 4.0 version is going to be released? I think that basic features should remains as free, and premium features require the paid version...

I understand why we have to pay for cloud reco, its perfectly valid as it requires to run complex infrastructure.

While it's hurting I still could understand if app is succesful there would be a charge (over 10k recos a month)

What it makes problematic is the counting on device database. Its too much of a restriction. 

I had a few long term projects,that uses vuforia and my question is the life span of the vuforia 3 version.

so, any official words on this issue? what will be available for free in vuforia 4 and under what conditions will it be free?

any admins/qualcom staff around to comment on this?

Not so much information from the License Team Support. See below. "Thank you for contacting us about your licensing concerns with regards to Vuforia. The Vuforia SDK is available at no charge to download, develop and publish your application!

No more information available? Price of License? I think that a product shouldn't be updated from Free to a Payment one that way, there are many people that is using Vuforia because of the possibility of the Device Database, let's say "amateur apps" that in 99% cases only use the Image Target featur

I have to admit I was always amazed that a cool AR tool such as Vuforia was for free and has opened up a whole new way of developing for me, but all with free apps, no profit in it as apps will always be free.

 

While waiting for the 4.0 terms,

Can some official from vuforia say about the future of 3 branch, will it be there,with its target manager, because i have few long term projects started on that.

The new terms should be clarified ASAP.

And the device database should not bind with a specific app, why add limitations to this great AR SDK? I do not understand the purpose.

Have you evaluated a flat monthly fee and/or a traditional pay once for a perpetual license for version 4.x, 5.x, etc. model?

Thank you for the clarification. But all turns out to be same as i expected. Six more month life to Vuforia 3 :)

Now eager to see the pricing of pro and enterprise :)
