Can't import ModelTarget to Unity

January 23, 2018 - 4:16am #1

Hello,

i am using Unity 2017.3.0f3 and Vuforia 7.0.36. I created my app license kay after the release of Vuforia 7. The MTG seems to work fine but if i try to import the unitypackage the MTG created to Unity, Unity says there is nothing to import. So unfortunately i cant use my ModelTargets in my Unity Project. Any ideas on how to fix that?

Thanks.

Hello,

this is not really the issue we had since we generated a complete new target with the current versions of Unity, Vuforia SDK and Model Target Generator (8.0.10).

However we've found a solution for the problem -> importing the databases manually to unity:

- Open the databse file that has been generated successfully by using Winrar and import the files manually to unity into the right folders (mind the corret asset-structure)

- rename the .info file to .xml

By doing that the model targets get integrated corretly within unity and without using the unitypackage.

Hello,

Unfortunately, in the past, we've had to break compatibility with device databases created by older versions of the Model Target Generator with the latest version of the SDK. This is sometimes required to advance the technology.

I suggest that you upgrade to the latest version of the Model Target Generator (8.0.10), which is compatible with Vuforia Engine SDK 8.0. This will require you to recreate the guide view, and regenerate the device database.

Thanks,

Same problem here with Unity 2018.3.1. There seems to be a bug within the current version of the Model Target Generator 8.0.10 since

older Model Targets generated with MTG 7 worked fine at the import.

We haven't found a solution yet -> @Vuforia?!

Best
