Model Target Detect Position

June 19, 2018 - 4:25am #1

Hi, in the model target guide (https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Solution/model-target-generator-user-guide.html) it mentions a Detect Position.

I'm currently looking into physical object tracking using CAD models and I have a question about this process (using the Model Target Generator):

- I assume this Detect Position is the position that it needs to be in to be registered by the camera to allow 3D tracking. Does this mean that every time the object leaves the camera's view, it needs to be detected again in the the Detect Position?

choose Advanced Guide View, then train the object on the database.

this will make it so that you don't have to position the camera to the detection position(you mean guide view?) when the target is lost

With the model that has been trained, objects can be detected from almost all angles, no need to adjust the guide view. Although in some cases it will take 1-2 seconds, depending on the quality of your camera and the complexity of the shape of your object.

I have tried training 4 objects, and it took 1 hour to get results. this is because the training process requires deep learning, we have to send our object file to the vuforia database for them to process with their supercomputer, then they send the result file

Hi,

did you solve the problem?

How could I detect position of physical tracked object?

thanks for help

Hello Sjoerd,

The detection position is the pose that will start the tracking experience. From that point on Vuforia will begin tracking the object as you move around and away from it. Extended Tracking will take over if you move too far away from the original position, but generally the object will stay in the location detected once tracking begins. You will only need to re-detect from this detection position again if Vuforia has completely lost the position of the target.

Thanks,
