Unable to create a model target

April 4, 2021 - 3:07pm #1

Hi,

I wanted to try out model tracking and provided an fbx file with no texture information. I selected "Advanced View" at the end, which I believe is supposed to automatically train against multiple potential views of the model. Do I still need to create multiple "Advanced Views" myself or is one that encompasses the entire model sufficient?

When I attempted to train, I got an error about the file being bad asking me to re-export it with no information as to what is going wrong. I've attached the FBX I tried to use. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Unable to create a model target

Thanks for the reply. I'll review what I've done. The model trained and sort of seems to work.

I have another thread re: texture maps. Is there a way to import these separately? If not, which file format is recommended? It looks like many of the formats do not support embedded textures except perhaps for gltf (which sadly, 3DS Max lacks an exporter for).

Unable to create a model target

Hi,

My understanding is that you would need to configure the Advance View and by doing this, your Target is configured for training.

If you have created Guide Views, please delete them, go on Create Advanced View -> Next Step -> Select from the 3 options 360 Dome or Full 360 or Custom Advanced view. For this object, I would select Full 360. Afterwards click on Generate Model Targets.

By doing this the model is configured for cloud training.

Go back to main screen where you see all of your model targets, hit Create Database on the right side. Add a Name and select the fbx for traning.

I just went to this steps myself and can confirm that the training has started.

Thank you.
