Create 3D model using object Scanner(URGENT)

November 3, 2016 - 6:35am #1

I am a newbie to AR and Unity , my task is to create a instruction manual for a simple router . The task is very simple that to detect the router and give the neccessary steps to configure it , by using arrows and pointers.

So , I used to vuforia object scanner app, and scanned the router . The detection seems to work fine , it detects the router , but in Unity there is no 3D model of the router by which I cant place my arrows in the right position on the object.

Though I've added the Object Target and I've selected the router in the inspector but Unity does'nt seem to show the 3D Model of the Object in the scene .

Also if u can help tell me how to create multiple steps , like using next and back buttons which will change the animations using unity cuz I cant seem to find any hint on it.

Google photoscanning. As far as I know, Vuforia doesn't support this. Photoscanning is a different topic compared to what Vuforia mostly offers - image recognition.

There are some software programs (Agisoft Photoscan) that will allow you to create 3D objects from a bunch of pictures but you would have to process these yourself and import them into Unity and adjust them to match the object targets.

I am wondering something similar.

How exactly do you go about creating a manipulable 3D object in Unity from a *.od file obtained from the Object Scanner app?

I've imported the Target Manager database package which supposedly contains my 3D object onto my Unity project but I do not see a way to place said object in the scene?

Perhaps this is not possible? (the object file resulting from the scan simply provides data points to recognize the object?)
