I originally tried to use 3d object scanner on a CFL light bulb and it scanned fine, but after setting things up in the application it only recognized the object while it was placed on the scanning paper. If you move the object off of the paper it stops working. I opened a thread on it but haven't received any help on that. I have moved away from that and attempted a multi image recognition hierarchy system created by bisecting images. This worked to a small extent, but not as well as I would have liked.
I am now attempting to use a cuboid multi target system and I am having a very similar issue to the 3d object scanning. I can create the cuboid and get it setup fine in unity, but when I try to run recognition on the object nothing happens. If I point the camera at the cuboid in the target manager it works exactly as I want it to. Basically it can't recognize the real world physical object, but it can recognize the virtual one on the manager, which makes pretty much no sense. The only thing I can think of is that it may be recognizing the background. I tried putting some white paper behind my object and even tried changing the background to black and using black paper. The images all show 4+ star recognition except for the top side, which has 0 stars.
Hello,
Hello,
A CFL light bulb is not a recommended object target due to the lack of surface features: https://library.vuforia.com/articles/Training/Object-Recognition
