Multitarget with Objects

June 6, 2016 - 5:02pm #1

Is it possible to make a multitarget with objects?  There are some locations with better tracking results when taken by themselves.  In the docs it looks like the only option for multitargets is for images, but perhaps it's an undocumented feature?

Thanks!

Thanks Alessandro,

I was trying to figure out how to do that in Unity actually, and I still haven't come to a proper conclusion.  Eventually we added some extra shrubbery to the model & it seems to work without needing to do multiple objects.

Cheers,

As stated in the doc:

https://developer.vuforia.com/library/articles/Training/Multi-Target-Guide

A Multi-Target consists of multiple Image Targets in a defined geometric arrangement. The position and orientation of each Image Target within a Multi-Target is defined relative to the origin of the Multi-Target, which is at its volumetric center.

Nevertheless, you could track "Multiple Object Targets simultaneously":

https://developer.vuforia.com/library/articles/Solution/Detect-and-Track-Multiple-Targets-Simultaneously

This is not the same as having a Multi-Target of Objects;

however, if you :

  1. enable simultaneous tracking of 2 or 3 Object Targets and
  2. you link your augmentation to each one of the Object Target using a different relative pose of the Augmentation w.r.t. each Target, and

This is not an officially supported feature, to be clear, but with a bit of patience and some experimenting, you might be able to achieve a result which somewhat mimics (at least with some approximation) the behavior of a typical Multi-Target.
