Scanner app with small object add point related to printed paper marker

April 7, 2017 - 6:29am #1

Hi

I try to use the scanner App to be able to do object recognition with small toys (30x30x40mm)

But when I do it I notice that some points define during the scan refers the top of the white arrow on the orthonormal coordinate system printed on the paper.

Is it possible to avoid that ?

Can I remove those point from the generated .od ?

When I test the toy is only detected on the printed scan marker :(

Is there a minimal size require for the object to ensure that the scanner will be done correctly ?

Thanks

Hello,

I received the toy this week and performed the following actions:

  1. Using the Object Scanner tool to scan the figure
  2. Using the Object Scanner tool to test detection of the figure

Can you please provide the .OD file from your scan of the figure? If you're not comfortable with posting it here, PM me with a link to download it. This will help me to continue the evaluation.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for the response. I've ordered the same toy so that I can do some experimentation with it.

Thanks.

Hi

Ok so the object can be small the scanner application is ok with that ?

I try with bigger object and it works better that's why I ask...

The toy comes from an Hasbro games, here for exemple you can get them : https://www.amazon.ca/Hasbro-38186-Spellshot-Zapped/dp/B008CO4OJY

But is it normal that point are placed on the paper where the orthonormal coordinate is display ??

Is it just to track it or is it really a point for recognition, because after that when I test the toy is only detected when I put it back on the paper, that's why I assume that the scanner application had something from the paper to the list of detection points.

Thanks

Hello,

The most important aspect of object recognition is the number of keypoints extracted during the scanning process.

Is this a commercially available toy? If so, please provide a link as I'd like to replicate the workflow.

Thanks.
