Solar Panel Recognition

Hi guys, I am new to Vuforia. I managed to run a sample app with the sample assets present in the SDK. However, I am unable to have the image target in my project recognized. It is a solar cell, hence hass vey little color variation, and also has a reflective surface over it. I am not sure if these factors are the cause of the problem though. I managed to create a database successfully, and have it imported and loaded. I created a new image target for my solar panel and can see it in the scene. I have attached images of the solar cell(and the same image was used for the database) and a screenshot of my editor. Am I supposed to be optimizing the recognition in some way? Have I missed out on any steps? Any help is appreciated

Thanks!!

Probably not enough variation in feature points.  If you read through this, it might help you understand what makes a good image (or object) for tracking.  https://library.vuforia.com/articles/Solution/Optimizing-Target-Detection-and-Tracking-Stability

Thanks for the reply. Any suggestions on using VuMarks? I am thinking of using VuMarks for recognizing the solar cell as well as for encoding a serial code for each solar cell that can help give us additional information about the cell

If you have the ability to affix a marker to the panel then go for it, VuMarks would work great.  Note that small Vumarks might not work that well, so camera might need to be close or the marker needs to be somewhat big, test out the Vuforia samples to get an idea.
