What feature point detection algorithm does Vuforia use?

Hi,

I understand that the Vuforia object scanner scans objects placed on the Object Scanning Target and picks up feature points from the objects, which it then stores in the Object Data file to be compared against later. Does this mean that the vuforia app that can be run from Android or Unity use a feature point detection algorithm for picking up features in the camera view? If so, is there any way to find out which algorithm it is using?
