Use mtl file with obj in ios

May 30, 2013 - 11:31pm #1

I have a .obj file with .mtl file. I have converted this 2 files in .h file. EX:  XOBJ.h, XMTL.h

By following Vuforia Examples, I know how to use XOBJ.h but I dont know how use XMTL.h. And without XMTL.h the 3D models shape comes out but some matirials are missing their. It shows transparent not solid. Please help.

Thanks

Hi, we have a little tutorial about how to convert OBJ files to .h files, and I believe you already followed that;

for the material (MTL file), you need to implement your own parser to read the content of the MTL file (note: converting MTL to a .h file does not work);

then, based on the content of the MTL file, you would need to implement some shaders so to obtain the visual effects that you want;

note that the samples use a very basic shader (see CubeShaders.h);

of course, you need to be familiar with OpenGL and Shader programming, if you want to achieve the above.

An alternative would be to try and integrate a 3rd party 3D engine, or to switch to Unity.
