4.xx vs 3.xx : What stat does it send out

May 24, 2015 - 7:50pm #1
Currently we use "Vuforia SDK: In-App Device Recos" version 3.09
and found its SDK send stat out as following.

       POST /arws/config/ HTTP/1.1
      X-Qcar-Software-Env-Version: 4.6.2
      X-Qcar-Software-Env-Type: unityPlayer
      X-Qcar-Sdk-Wrapper-Version: 3.0.9
      X-Qcar-Sdk-Wrapper-Type: unityWrapper
      X-Qcar-Sdk-Version: 3.0.9
      X-Qcar-Os-Version: 19
      X-Qcar-Os-Type: Android
      X-Qcar-Os-Kernel-Version: 3.4.0
      X-Qcar-Market-Id: XXX
      X-Qcar-First-Install: true
      X-Qcar-Device-Profile-Version: 1.1
      X-Qcar-Device-Model: Nexus 5
      X-Qcar-Device-Manufacturer: XXX
      X-Qcar-Device-Id: XXX
      X-Qcar-Device-Hardware: hammerhead
      X-Qcar-App-Version: 1.0
      X-Qcar-App-Id: XXX
      X-Qcar-Analytics-Config-Version: 0.0
      Content-Length: 0
      Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
      Host: dp.qcarsdk.com
      Connection: Keep-Alive

We have some inquiries as below

      (1)  If we use latest version 4.xx.  Is it still send stat out ?

      (2)  If yes. what data fields does it send out ?  same as 3.09.?

      (3)  Actually my concerns is DeviceID information.   Is there any SDK version that not send it out ?

        Thank you so much.

Unfortunately the implementation details of this internal protocol aren't something I can post.  Any values sent will fairly adhere to the statement in the release notes regarding identifying information.

Hi  Wcurtis,

Thank you so much for your kind support.

May I ask what the actual value of this field stand for ?
What XXX value stand for ?.   How does vuforia SDK generate this value ?

      X-Qcar-Device-Id: XXX

       Thank you so much.

The 'DeviceID' field name is an artifact of legacy SDK releases prior to 2.6.10, which was left unchanged for compatibility reasons.  The 2.6.10 release notes accurately describe the values reported by the SDK.

From the Vuforia 2.6.10 Release Notes

"Vuforia no longer collects the hashed MAC address or other permanent device-based identifiers for purposes of identifying an end user’s device. A hashed app runtime timestamp is now used as an app identifier"

This is still applicable up through the Vuforia 4.2 SDK release.
