I remember about a year ago, there was some talk about opening up the trackable creation API, so that trackables could be created "on the fly" with the end user being able to snap their own image to-be-converted to trackable. Is that still in the works, or is there a (terms-favorable) way to do that currently?

Access to Trackable creation as a RESTful API?
Access to Trackable creation as a RESTful API?
Hi
I've been looking forward this new release (2.0), the problem is I haven't seen enough information about it, currently I am wondering about 2.0 version:
- Will TMS be replaced for API to create targets from our own apps?
- We know that will be released on fall 2012, is there a more specific date?, maybe a month?
- Is there a feature list the version 2.0 will contain?
- Will VWS cost? , or an enterprise version will be released? (I would pay for it too)
These questions are very important to plan our near development
Access to Trackable creation as a RESTful API?
Re: Access to Trackable creation as a RESTful API?
Throwing in with the choir here. We are finding the limitation of creating datasets through the web interface a serious hindrance in developing applications. Even making the dataset creation application available as a licensed executable binary would help. *Anything* to be able to create trackables and trackable datasets programatically.
Re: Access to Trackable creation as a RESTful API?
I second that. This API really becomes more "enterprise level" and a viable tool for commercial development if I can provide an end-to-end solution without the requirement of physically logging into TMS to create targets.
+1 --- It's difficult to convince clients to commit to this platform when target creation cannot be done with our own code. They're concerned the web app will be offline at a critical moment, or even removed entirely at some point, breaking our entire codebase.

I am very interrested to see this feature added too. It would give us unlimited possibilities. We're willing to pay up too.

I don't care if it's a RESTful web service personally. Any programmatic method to create ImageTargets will do.
Kim - can you discuss this amongst the dev team? I think you'll find more than one developer team that could really use this.
The TMS isn't being replaced, it's being upgraded to accommodate VWS. But I'll have to direct you to our beta program for VWS to answer your other questions. And you'll be happy to know that this provides a well developed REST API for both provisioning and retrieving targets.
