Camera requires Network?

March 31, 2011 - 1:24pm #1

I was wondering if there is any reason during the QCAR.init() call in the Asynctask that the application fails to load if the phone is in airplane mode or doesn't have a mobile data functionality turned on (3g or wifi). The value jumps to QCAR.INIT_CANNOT_DOWNLOAD_DEVICE_SETTINGS, but why does it need network functionality to retrieve these settings?

I'm working on the Samsung Fascinate. Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately there is no way for you to set these parameters yourself. Once you connect and get the settings you should be able to work offline, however.

Can I ask what device you are using?

Kim,

Thanks for the quick answer. While this is a good method to support future devices, is there anyway I can statically set the parameters I need for my device without having it go over the network to achieve these parameters? From looking at the code, it looks like the network calls are stored inside the precompiled QCAR.jar files which are not open source, correct?

Thanks.

The first time you run a QCAR application it pings our server to get the latest device settings. This is how we add support for new devices, otherwise you would have to recompile your application with a new version of our library each time new devices came out.
