Can't create a big AR model

November 22, 2011 - 8:01am #1

Hello,

I'm working with Unity SDK. What I'm trying to accoplisch is when my mobile traces 'stones' (the image was in the SDK example files). I want to load a BIG 3d model.

Everything works except when I increase the scale too much, and then run the application. I can only see parts of the 3d model.

So in short my question is, how can I create a big 3d AR model (gameObject ) with a average sized trackable?!?!

Hi, can you post this ObjectiveC specific question on the iOS section of the forum ? (there you will surely get a prompt reply)/

Hi,

I'm new to Viforia and I'm having the same problem, but using Xcode/Objective-C. How I change the near/far plane in code?

Thanks

Moving the camera further upwards did the job!
Thanks for the reply(s) and good advice!

elecman, you took the words out of my mouth :)

You may need to play around with the near and far clipping planes on the ARCamera. Your near plane might be clipping through the object, or possibly the far plane, if you have to back up too far to see the whole object. Try decreasing the near plane and increasing the far plane.

Please note that we don't recommend rendering models that are significantly larger than the target, as any errors in the pose will be magnified (you may experience some jitter).

Try to reduce the number of the near clipping plane of the camera. See if that makes a difference. Also make sure the model is placed on top of the marker, not in the middle of it.
Did you try to move the physical camera back?
Can you post a screenshot?
