When getting the distance of the target and camera, what metric is the distance returned in?

Thanks for the clarificaton; in fact, for Word targets are different  from Image targets and do not have a scale which corresponds to any real world size;

so, the distance of the camera from a printed word will not represent any realistic distance (in whatever unit).

If you need to compute the distance of the camera from a target, it's better to use an Image Target of known size.

This depends on what target size you have specified, and the size of your real target (printed physical target).

For example, if you have create a target with Width = 200, and you have printed it on a 200 millmeters wide paper sheet, the distance can be interpreted as millimeters.
