Error ADB is down

June 9, 2011 - 2:37am #9

When i started my App today i got the errormessage:

[2011-06-09 11:32:09 - FrameMarkers] The connection to adb is down, and a severe error has occured.
[2011-06-09 11:32:09 - FrameMarkers] You must restart adb and Eclipse.
[2011-06-09 11:32:09 - FrameMarkers] Please ensure that adb is correctly located at 'C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\adb.exe' and can be executed.

I didn´t change the location of adb.exe and don´t know how to solve this problem. Anybody knows how to?

Just in case you're not sure how to restart:

adb kill-server
adb start-server

I found this error when i type adb start-server

$ adb start-server
-bash: adb: command not found

i like to know that in the system variable option i added a path of android ndk
so is it necessary to include the path like /android-sdk/platform-tools  as i have
added the path of android ndk.
as my  <DEVELOPMENT_ROOT> = D:\Development\Android
and i have installed cygwin in C:\cygwin.

Do guide.

You can run the following command in the Cygwin Terminal to display the current environment paths:
echo $PATH | gawk '{ gsub(/:/, "\n"); print; }'

it gives me the path like  this :

$ echo $PATH | gawk '{ gsub(/:/, "\n"); print; }'
/usr/local/bin
/usr/bin
/cygdrive/d/Program Files/Developer/android-ndk-r9d-windows-x86/android-ndk-r9d

but still the adb command is not working.

i have tried to run it by moving to the relevant directory
like  in my case
D:\ProgramFiles\Developer\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20140321\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20140321\sdk\platform-tools

which have adb.exe file

i want to install -----.APK file (need to know how to run the adb command)

Now adb command is working i just give the path of  adt-bundle-windows-x86-20140321 replacing with

android-ndk-r9d-windows-x86

but  the instructions says u have to set the path for android ndk  (command  ndk-build)

NDK requires the above directory to be added to the Windows path.

  1. Right-click My Computer on the desktop and select Properties.
  2. On the Advanced tab, select Environment Variables and look for the Variable “Path” in the System variables window.
  3. After pressing Edit, scroll to the end of “Variable value:” and add the full path to the directory to the end of the path, separated by a semicolon from the previous path. In the above example, you would add:

;C:\Development\Android\android-ndk-rxy\

Do guide what would i do next,

The adb.exe is not included with the NDK. It is included in the SDK within the "platform-tools" folder.

The NDK instructions specify not to use a path with spaces. Your NDK appears to be contained within "Program Files" folder which has a space.
