Image Targets on video

January 24, 2012 - 6:09am #1

Hi,
I'm new into AR, and wonder if it is possible to use Image Targets displayed on a video.
And if it can be detected when the video is on TV.
Anyone tried this already ?

Hi,
I can't say a thing about how targets that are recorded with a video camera will perform in such a scenario but in general trackables that are displayed on a monitor or a flat TV gave me quite sufficient results so far. Under good light conditions you can even use a beamer ;-)
Hope this helps a bit.
Best,
Stefan

You mean pointing the device camera at a TV playing a video that contains the targets? I haven't tried this... There might be an issue with getting a clear image from the TV. Another issue will be compensating for the lens distortion of the video camera that took the video of the target. You can always give it a try though!
