Internet Access for QCAR Initialization

October 20, 2011 - 11:56pm #1

Hello All,

I am analyzing about using QCAR SDK for some of the image recognition solutions.

During this I observed that during the QCAR.init(), the QCAR SDK seems to be accessing the internet to get some settings. If there is no network, then I get an error ""Network connection required to initialize camera settings. Please check your connection and restart the application. If you are still experiencing problems, then your device may not be currently supported."

I would like to know what is the purpose of QCAR SDK to access network?

Can this be avoided by some way?

Please suggest.

regards
Girish

Could these settings be included in the API so developers can include them in projects(or even on a request basis)? It is extremely important for users not to need internet, even on a first run, to use our app.

Currently the SDK must access the internet once per application to download device specific settings. After that first time you can run the application offline. We are working on improving this for a future release.
