Lighting factor

I don't know if this is already possible, but otherwise it would be a feature request. Would it be possible for the SDK to provide a lighting factor that I can use for multiplying the OpenGL lighting with. It would enable better blending of the 3D geometry with the background camera image.

kind regards,

Roland

Hi there!

I wrote a script that will get light estimation. I can confirm that it works on both ios and android.

You can get it here:

Thanks for making this a feature request. I could probably come up with a solution myself using rendering to texture and comparing the image to the camera image, but if it can be done by the SDK it will benefit us all.

This isn't currently a feature of the SDK, although it is something you might be able to approximate yourself just by averaging some color information from the camera image. You could also considering polling the light sensor, if the device has one, but this has the downside that the camera image brightness does not always match the ambient light levels.

I'll add this as a feature request!
