Multiple Image Target and Multiple Models 2D or 3D

March 19, 2013 - 12:04pm #1

Hello
Friends, I am studying for my project Vuforia completion of college.
ImageTarget noticed that I can use different images to use as target and only display a 2D or 3D and FrameMarkers that I can display multiple 2D and 3D models for the targets that can be up to 512 markers.
My question is: Would it be possible using 2 or more target images (like the ImageTarget) display more of a 3D model as in Imagetargets?

Already thank you,
Bianco

HI Alessandro.

I also have the same requirement of identifying multiple 2D objects. I got your solution, but in the downloaded samples I didt get the native code files to modify. Could you please share the open source native code to modify...

Hi, in Unity, if you click on at ARCamera object in your scene view, then you will see the QCARBehaviour script in the inspector view;

in the QCARBehaviour script, you can find an attribute called "Max Simultaneous Image Targets", which is set to 1 by default; you can just change it to 2 or more.

I have the same problem, but I am using unity4.

can you show me which code should I modify?

Hi,

the API that you need to use is the QCAR::setHint( QCAR::MAX_IMULTANEOUS_IMAGE_TARGETS,  some_custom_value  );   where "some_custom_value" will have to be higher than 1 if you want more than one target at a time (for instance you could put a value of 5).

In ImageTargets sample, you can find this code to do that (in ImageTargets.cpp):

JNIEXPORT void JNICALL
Java_com_qualcomm_QCARSamples_ImageTargets_ImageTargets_onQCARInitializedNative(
     JNIEnv *, jobject)
{
    // Register the update callback where we handle the data set swap:
    QCAR::registerCallback(&updateCallback);

    // Comment in to enable tracking of up to 2 targets simultaneously and
    // split the work over multiple frames:
    QCAR::setHint(QCAR::HINT_MAX_SIMULTANEOUS_IMAGE_TARGETS, 2);
}

The scenario that you describe is certainly possible, but you will need to implement it at application logic level.

Hello
I'm developing for Android.
I will detail:
I want to identify up to 5 targets (ok, multitargets explained), and for each one I want to display a different image (2D model). Imagine two images: Chips and Stones: chips when he sees displays the letter "Q" and when you see the stones displays the letter "A", and when he sees Chips and Stones while on top of each image, exbibe "Q" and "A" simultaneously. As in FrameMarkes but using target images.
Is that possible to do?

Thanks for the reply AlessandroB.
I'm using Android.
Do you have an example for this situation?

Thank you.

Hi, you can use more targets simultaneously (i.e. more than 1);

you need however to enable the support for multiple targets via the API;

are you using Unity, iOS or Android ?
