Offline trackables creation

February 25, 2012 - 4:29am #1

First of all great library. Second of all has one major flaw, no dynamic trackables creation! I totally agree with everyone we need one and this is a recurring problem judging by the number of threads about it!

Hey Quallcomm, are there any plans of releasing Web API for dynamic creation of trackables? Or maybe better releasing the trackable creation code as a library or as a part of the SDKs?

Anything but this online tool.. Not having possiblity to create trackables offline vitually kills many ideas.

Pretty please

Or if it's for whatever reason impossible to release your code, give us a resource file description and we'll create our own trackable creator... :)

I totally agree. One addition though.

An api to create the trackables offline in my opinion is still not good enough. String has this as well. The only thing you have to do is to add a png to the editor in Unity3d and String takes care of the rest. But you still can't create trackables on the fly.

This would transform the AR experience as a user could take a picture from say a random beer coaster, and display a virtual beer on top of it, tilt it, and let the beer glass fall off, say.

This would imply perspective correction for the photograph and perhaps even lens distortion correction, but this functionality could be build in as well.

Personally I see no reason why a developer does not want this functionality so all that is left is corporate BS, which is probably what is holding this back.
