Pose determination

Hi,

I read from this resource https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/pose-matrix-explained that X axis is horizontal, Y axis is vertical, and z axis coming out the target. But, when tracking the target and move the target in horizontal direction  why the value of y axis changes instead of x axis? Is that due to in protrait mode ?

Hi,
 

I see. So the camera reference frame used by Vuforia is defined with X pointing to right and Y pointing to downward, and what I measured is with respect to camera reference frame.

The fact that the Y axis increases positively when you move downward is because the Y axis is actually oriented downward;

but this does not mean that the reference used in Vuforia is left handed;

it is actually right-handed, but the caveat is that the Z axis direction is pointing into the screen (and not out of the screen);

i.e. it is a right handed system, but just rotated 180 degrees around X.

Hi, 

I would like to ask about target reference frame. It was said that Vuforia use right hand coordinate system. But when I did simple measurement, I got left hand coordinate system for my target reference frame. When I was moving my target to the direction of my right hand, the value of x axis increases in positve sign. But when I moved my target downward, the value of y axis also increases in positive instead of negative. Do you know what cause of it?

Yes, this is due to using Portrait mode.

The axis refer by convention to the camera image (whose reference frame is considered in landscape, regardless of the device orientation)
