QCAR.init failed

September 2, 2012 - 12:57am #1

Hi,

This is my first AR/Vuforia project. I"m trying to understand the composition of the code and how to implement it on my own project.

After I start running my program, a dialog box will appear with the message "Failed to initialize QCAR".

public class InitQCARTask extends AsyncTask<Void, Integer, Boolean>

I've noticed that my progressValue doesn't change and QCAR.init returns a -1.

Have you guys encounter this problem and what is your action to solve this.

Your help will greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

So the access_wifi_state permission is needed then. Thanks

The dialog box I'm referring to is the "Failed to initialize QCAR" within the OnPostExecute(Boolean result) function.

"result" is failing sometimes. I'm not exactly sure when it occurs. It occurs sporadically and I haven't found under what conditions it fails. All I know is that it's not necessarily on a fresh installation, and it doesn't happen all the time. When it does occur however, sometimes it's at the launch of the app, and others are just when the view finder is open (I'll leave it open sometimes, and a few minutes later I look at it and it fails)

You should retain that permission because it's used by the SDK internally.

Which dialog box are you referring to, and does this occur w/ a fresh installation and launch of the app?

Does the SDK require the read_wifi_state to initialize properly each time?

I have the access_wifi_state permission and it initializes, however I've noticed that it fails to initialize every now and then when trying to open the view finder (camera), but once I click ok on the dialog box, the view finder and the rest of the app works just fine.

Thanks for the reply DavidBeard. I've figure out what's happening.

I lack the read_wifi_state permission and it causes some error.

Thanks :)

Can you send me a link to your build and run log from LogCat? That will give me some more info on why the initialization is failing.
