Question relating to Camera detection

February 28, 2012 - 4:01am #1

This is my first post here! :D So first I want to say: Hello!

Now onto the question at hand:

I have been working with QCAR for a few weeks now, the program itself works great! But there is one slight issue. QCAR requires an internet connection in order to download the Smartphone's specifications. Without internet the app simply won't work.

I was wondering if it is possible to shut this down, since I wish to include the specifications in the app requirements once it's done. My smartphone is a rental, which does not have a SIM-card (and thus I have to login using wifi each time I want to show my app).

Does anyone know if this is possible? or if it is otherwise possible to load the specifications directly from the hardware system settings?

Thanks in advance :)

Thank you for the quick reply, I will certainly take a look at the new version :)

Stefann is correct. The current version doesn't require a connection and will generate a device profile on its own. But once there is connection, the profile that we've defined for that device will be retrieved and stored on the device.

What is your use case, that you need to be able to load the profile from storage?

hi and welcome ;-)
i guess you are working on android using a pre-1.5 version of the sdk.
according to what kim posted http://ar.qualcomm.at/node/2001493 you shouldn't need an internet connection anymore if you update to the latest version of vuforia. however the device settings might not be ideal and you might experience worse tracking results.
best,
stefan
