Saving User Defined Targets and/or Target Database

July 7, 2015 - 7:34am #1

Hi all,

What I want to achieve is this:

In my app the user creates their own user defined targets on the fly at different geo-locations (this I can do no problem). There is usually only one target image per geo locaton, and locations are usually quite some distance apart, but may be within 10 meters sometimes.

I want to be able to save the targets at a given geo location to the Android device, for later usage. At a later time the user should be able to return to the different geo locations, and select the target image they know refers to the current geo location, and activate it so that the SDK knows what it's looking for.

Questions:

Is it possible to save user defined target information to the Android device? Or if not is there a way round this I can impement?

If this is not possible, then is there another way? I've heard talk of local Android Vuforia device databases?

Can I export a device target database, so I can save it on my Android device locally, or even my own server?

What happens if I stop my app or turn my phone off and on - how can my targets still be available on the database if I can't save the database?

Hope you can help.

Thanks

User-Defined Targets are stored in memory and there's no option to save them (see our UDT sample app for example).

You can export a DataSet file from a Device DB and store the dataset locally within your app.
