Text Recognition without specifying each word.

July 8, 2013 - 7:15am #1

Is it possible to use text recognition to recognize words without exactly populating the word list with them?  For example, if I have a series of ID numbers that follow a certain format, for example length, or X letters followed by Y numbers, can I determine them without storing each individual ID?

You can use the addWordU() method of the QCAR::WordList class, or you can load additional words from file using the addWordsFromFile() method, see the API reference:

I would like to learn how custom words can be added programmatically (dynamically)? I am using the latest iOS SDK.

Yes you can load and unload custom word lists programmatically at runtime. Which SDK version are you using?

In that case is it possible to switch word lists at runtime so a different initial list pulls a second list and then compares?

Hi,

if I understand correctly, you are basically asking if it is possible to recognize words based on some "rules" (for instance like in regular expression, or similar), instead of specifying the words explicitly.

Currently, this is not supported by the SDK.

But it sounds a pretty interesting feature, so I encourage you to post this as a feature request in our Forum Wish List:
