Trackable from QR code (better than 2 stars?)

March 16, 2012 - 11:48am #1

Is it possible to get a QR code trackable to have a rating higher than 2 stars? Been fuddling with adding a natural-unpatternful image to the center of a QR code but unable to get pass the 2 star mark. It's odd because sometimes it shows one or two tips below.

Confirmed working and still works when I cover part of the trackable up...

I didn''t express myself very well, but yes I tried to use them as ImageTargets. There was no tracking at all. I am quite sure that I didn't do any mistake, as it is not my first Application with Vuforia.

Disregard that, I am stupid and just made a big mistake, sorry. The tracking with the QR Codes works really really well, as always with Vuforia ;).

I still get a 0 star rating but the Tracking is as good as with a five star rating.

Have you tested them?

Trackable from QR code (better than 2 stars?)

Is there any update on how QR Codes perform as Markers? I've tried many QR Codes with different complexities, but all of them got a 0 star rating and therefore they didn't work as ImageTargets. Any tips on how to use them as ImageTargets, or is this simply not possible?

Thanks in advance

In that case, could you please check the TMS rating logic? It seems the update has taken the logic out of it...

It appears that the rating algorithm has changed with the upgrade of the TMS. This QR used to be rated as a 4, now it's 0. But it should still perform well.

I've actually never been able to get more than a 2 star for a QR code or 3 star for an iPhone snapshot...

I'm wondering what do the 4 star QR codes look like? Can you post some samples?

Also, what is the difference in tracking ability between a 2 star and 4 star rating?

Yes you should always do tests. I have had very good tracking performance on the image that only had 2 stars. I bet that this QR code will track very nicely.

That looks like it should be more than 2 stars. Sometimes the TMS under, or over, scores images so it's worthwhile to do your own testing. But yes, I've analyzed QR codes w/ higher ratings (e.g. 4 stars).
