User Defined Tracker orientation

January 10, 2013 - 6:59am #1

I am using the new version, with the user trackable creation.

The problem is, that the orientation of the newly created tracker is depending on the orientation of the device, and not on the user point of view.

IE, if the user is holding is device in landscape right orientation, the camera will be "reversed" and the new tracker coordinate will be directed to the user.

Is it possible to specify an orientation during the build ? Or to rotate the tracker after creation ?

Hi jfchianetta

It should be possible to set the orientation behaviour, though exactly how you do this depends on whether you are using Unity, iOS and Android.

As an example:

Unity - Set the desired / supported orientations in the Inspector in Build Settings

iOS - click on the target and then in the summary tab look for Supported Interface Orientation - press those buttons you wish to support

Essentially the apps will aim to rotate the video camera display to the orientation indicated when the user rotates the device.  If you want to customise the behaviour even more, then it may be possible more in native iOS / Android - do a search for Rotation in the source code.
