video playback is flipped vertically

April 21, 2014 - 10:35pm #1

I'm new to using the SDK and am really enjoying what I see :) before making my app final for the client, I am using the developer account with offline databases but for some reason, although the video plays fine, it is vertically flipped! to understand what the problem may be, I did the following:

First I tried the sample VideoPlayback in eclipse with the default .xml .dat that was in it and the video was playing correctly. Then I generated my own database (.xml .dat) and replaced it with the old ones without changing anything else but this time the video was playing vertically flipped.

which makes me think that there must be something wrong in the database that I downloaded.

Has any one else faced a similar problem I wonder? and if yes, am I correct to presume that the flipped problem will be fixed when I purchase the starter package?

Please advice, because I need to keep my focus on building my app and I don't wish to mess around the inner SDK codes.

The vertical flipping is controlled by the transformed texture coordinates that are specified in the VideoPlaybackRenderer.java. There's an excellent FAQ article that describes in detail the necessary changes to make to the code in order to add a new target to the VideoPlayback sample app. Please refer to these instructions:

Thanks for your reply but I still have the problem! I tried the following:

1) played with the size in different dimentions and ratio > no luck

2) double checked to see if I upload the targets to "target manager" flipped 180 degrees > but it made no difference

should I send the eclipse project to you so someone may have a look and see why my videos are all flipped?!

as a workaround, I used a video convertor tool flip my videos manually before embeding them into the package but that's not making me happy! for my app requirements, I need to put the video files on sdcard with a correct rotation and the app should be able to display them correctly. so, I am still in need of a real solution...

Please advice,

The size values of the "stones" and "chips" within the StonesAndChips.xml file in the VideoPlayback sample are listed as size="247 173" even though the images are 1500x1050. Perhaps there might be a scaling issue when you swap in your targets which is causing the flipping. The source code refers to the identifiers for the stones and chips. If you didn't change anything besides swapping in your database, what does the content of your downloaded target database xml show?
