Manual focus point on Android?

Device: Samsung Galaxy s10e

 

My tracking object is intended to be held at the bottom area of the user's camera frame, but with autofocus that causes the camera to focus in the background and can cause my object to become blurry and degrade tracking.

I'd like for the camera to attempt to autofocus on the point on the screen where the AR target is located. Is that possible?

Could I write a custom screen that tells the camera to focus on that point?

I haven't found any method like that in the API docs. Perhaps I need to do something with ARCore to enable this?
