5 rated target shaking

September 25, 2013 - 1:45pm #1

Take at the attached image. I am using the area with in the iPad as a tracking device. It rated 5 on the target manager. Whenever I run the AR and use the target the video shakes. That is to say the AR video shakes. Why is this happening? How can I fix the shaking without switching out the image.

Thank you. I fixed it. Turns out I had some a halftone dot gradient on the image that was messing everything up. Because the dots were too similar Vuforia was having a hard time deciding which was which. The shaking came from Unity switching back and forth between dots.

It may help to use the entire image, so that the video instance is smaller in proportion to the target area. Also have you tried using Stones, from the ImageTarget sample? That's a strong target and will give you a base of reference to determine what is possible.

I will try that. Is there really no way to animate or angle the video?

Try laying the Video prefab on the target, as with the sample at Position 0,0,0.

When you displace augmentations, like the Video on texture rendering, away from the center of the target it reduces the accuracy of the pose estimation measurement that is used to position this media and can result in the shaking that you're seeing.

Do you have any thoughts about how to fix the shaking knowing the info I have added?

See attached. Actually I animated the prefab hovering above the target. If this is bad how can i do it?

Have you confirmed that your video prefab instance is on the plane of the target, and not sitting a bit above it ? - that can cause some shaking.

And is the target image you've used the image on the ipad, or the entire image you've linked?

Did you see any shaking w/ your test device when using the sample?
