Accessing individual letters/characters in Text Reco

January 29, 2016 - 7:41am #1

Hey guys,

I tried finding this in the forums but no concrete answer. I'm trying to access the individual letters/characters detected in the Word object. Primarily, I'm trying to achieve the following:

- detect the colour of the letters

- draw a border around the individual letters

Any suggestions?

Yes, you can use the Letter Mask to get the exact bits that "cover" each letter within a word.

Have you tried the GetLetterBoundingBoxes method ?

Thanks for the reply @AlessandroB. From my understanding, this only gives a bounding box which defines a letter. However, it still does not give me access to the letter itself.

This is what I was thinking:

1. extract the detected word

2. get the letter mask

3. perform bit operation to remove the background and leave only the letters

Do you think this is a good idea?
