App and HTC Sense crash after hitting HOME button

March 29, 2012 - 3:58am #1

Hi,

When I hit the HOME button on my HTC Desire while running my app I'v written with Unity 3.5 and Vuforia 1.5.10 not only the app crashes but also HTC Sense. The latter restarts afterwards.

When I had a look at the logs, it said that the state of the camera is not correct (please see the log excerpt below and the file attached).

Any help on how to fix this is very much appreciated.

I think you were right with the memory usage; when I set all my game objects to inactive nothing crashes.

The thing is, I don't know how to reduce my memory usage any more. I have set the mesh compression of all objects to high, checked "Optimize Mesh" and "Static" on all of them. I call Resources.UnloadUnusedAssets() from time to time. The two PNGs I use as a texture are both 1024x2048. I don't think that's too bad.

In my player settings I've checked Static and Dynamic Batching (not sure if that helps though) and set the Graphics Level to OpenGL ES 1.x which gives higher FPS rate than 2.0.

When I call GetComponentsInChildren().Length I get 2274.

If you have any suggestion on how to optimize, I would be very happy.

You seem to be running out of memory:

Quote:

I/ActivityManager( 1339): Low Memory: No more background processes.

That may be why htc.sync is getting killed, it looks like the OS is killing a number of background processes. Try trimming your app's memory requirements down and see if that helps.

Please find the complete log attached. The app is called LinzAR.

Thanks
