"App Key is missing" in production (Unity+Android)

Topic solved

I have the following problem. I am using Vuforia with Unity and everything is working fine in the editor and also when I build from the editor directly to my Android device. But once I download the .apk file manually or via Google Play Store Beta testing, it is showing the message "Vuforia App Key is missing.".

The App key I added to the Vuforia configuration file, I checked the how to again and couldn't find any additional information. I already checked other posts around the app key missing thing, but they all simply forgot to put in the key. In my case it is only working via direct install from unity. Anybody ran into the same problem and resolved it? Did I maybe miss something in the unity settings?

I am using Vuforia 6.2 and Unity 5.6 (have to use the beta because of other frameworks)

In case somebody else would run into the same problem, I have found the issue on my side.

In Android "Player Settings", make sure you have "Split Application Binary" under "Publishing Settings" UNCHECKED
