Applying texture to a dynamically loaded model in Unity

November 24, 2013 - 7:04pm #1

Hi,

How could I apply a texture file to a dynamically loaded 3D model in Unity? I am loading the model using the steps specified in the post: https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/faq/unity-how-can-i-dynamically-attach-my-3d-model-image-target

Thanks,

BP

Applying texture to a dynamically loaded model in Unity

Hello David,

In some models, I am having more than 1 texture component present. I was able to select the model parts and apply them manually during the design time from Unity.

But, when they are loaded dynamically, I am having difficulty assigning the texture portions to the model parts.

Do I need to get the full texture as a single file from the designing team? Please suggest.

Thanks,

BP

Take a look at the Virtual Buttons sample for an example of how to apply textures at runtime - https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/sample-apps/virtual-button-sample-app

The technique that you're looking for is implemented in the event handler on the wood target.

You can also swap materials at runtime - http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/ScriptReference/Renderer-material.html?from=Material
