AR Camera Slow fram rate when switching from a normal scene to AR scene

July 25, 2014 - 12:26am #1

HI

I am using an AR camera along with a daikon forge GUI menu which contains buttons to launch various scenes. The overlay Daikon forge menu is running in a separate layer.  What I have noticed is that when I chose a menu option and launch a contact page scene for example, if I exit this scene to drop back to the main scene in which the AR camera is running the frame rate becomes extremly slow.

I tested this on 2 phones

the Sony Xperia Z1 - this is the phone which gives me the slow AR camera

the Google Nexus 5 - There is no visible deterioration in the AR camera frame rate when swapping between the AR scene and any other scenes

I would like the application to run optimally on all phones and I am wondering what could cause this behaviour ?

I have tried to disable Qcarbehaviour when moving from the AR scene to a new scene, and then re enabling it when I move from any other scene back to the AR scene in the hopes that it would fix the slow camera issue but when I do this I get a black screen . In my AR scene I have two cameras one for AR and one for the daikonforge menu which. Could running two csmeras cause the black screen issue ?

Also how do I figure out why the app runs fine on the nexus but not on the sony ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Did you guys find a workaround for this?

You might want to try reseting the frame format when returning to an AR scene to see if that helps the frame rate:

A post that mentions additional details:
