Best way to disable everything but the camera feed?

January 4, 2012 - 11:34am #1

We have a lot of "game" running on top of the AR stuff and, for performance reasons, we may want to disable tracking on certain devices but we definitely want to keep the camera feed -- I've gone in and commented out some stuff to get a modest performance boost, but I figure I'd also ask here to make sure I'm doing it the best way possible. I'm running the 1.5 beta right now. Thanks!

This isn't currently possible. Feel free to add it to the http://ar.qualcomm.at/node/2001256.

Thanks!

Next question is would there be any way for us to control the frequency that the framebuffer is analyzed for tracking? So that we could, for example, slow down the tracking frequency if the rest of our app is slowing down -- try to do a bit of load balancing. Is that what Camera Device Mode deals with? Would we be able to build off of that to create our own dynamic system?

Here's the correct way to disable the trackers with 1.5:

ImageTracker imageTracker = (ImageTracker) TrackerManager.Instance.GetTracker(Tracker.Type.IMAGE_TRACKER);
imageTracker.Stop();

MarkerTracker markerTracker = (MarkerTracker) TrackerManager.Instance.GetTracker(Tracker.Type.MARKER_TRACKER);
markerTracker.Stop();
