Binocular AR

May 8, 2014 - 8:07pm #1

Hi Guys,

I followed the following tutorial to make binocluar AR mode, but I get one problem about updating QCAR projection.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vjmd2QkegAEOuuiuydpc9D_XQcWW64hSRnymjFabcoc/edit

I cannot find the UpdateProjection method at newest Unity 2.8.9 SDK, so how to modify camera projection?

Thanks,

Felix

Hi Felix,

I went down the same path when I first started working with the Oculus Rift. I think the issue is that QCAR has been updated and secured a lot since this method was created. QCARBehavior is more of a shell of a script at this point referencing dlls and other things where the real code is.

So the real challenge is that the webcam option for "play" mode in Unity only allows for one camera input. Some workarounds I've done for this:

1) Create projection plane quads with render textures (this method requires 2 ar cameras and 2 background stream cameras), and Unity Pro.

2) Use the "stereoscopy hack" method to duplicate the single webcam output and offset it (look up "stereoscopy hack" in these forums)

3) Use Metaio toolkit - you can publish to Windows and 2 camera inputs is not a problem. (there is a learning curve, it's not as friendly, and tracking is not as good, imho)

Best,

Chris
