can ImageTarget be instanced more than once

March 8, 2013 - 6:57am #1

Hi,

I would like to use one image target to trigger ARs.   The augments (pictures, 3D models) need to be played sequentially.   Each augment may have different transformation relative to the image target.   So I plan to create a bunch of image targets with same dataset/target for each augment, all disabled initially.  Upon detection, scripts are called to toggle on/off augments one by one.    Is this approach workable?   Since the image targets are created with same dataset/target, do associated scripts get called?  Or only one get called?

By the way, is there any suggested way for my usage?

Thanks,

Jason

You will need to apply the augmentations to the target dynamically because you are not going to be able to maintain multiple instances of the same target in the Unity scene.

To place the augmentations with code you will define the objects transform.parent as the transform of the ImageTarget instance. You can then define the relative transform position and rotation in the local space of the target.

See: http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/ScriptReference/Transform-parent.html
