Crash with Motorola Xoom Tablet

November 25, 2011 - 4:23pm #1

Hi

My application is not able to run on my Motorola Xoom tablet (Android 3.1), Unity 3.4.0, and qcar-unity-android-1-0-6.
After loading, the application exits immediately.

This is happening as soon as a put a ARCamera in my scene. Since there no other element in my scene hierarchy, i was expecting to get at runtime a video in fullscreen.

I've no pb when using my HTC Sensation mobile phone so i suppose this is a hardware related problem.

Is there something i should check to make qcar unity to run on my tablet ?

Hello jchennequin,

Can you please send the full log from the ImageTargets sample app to

. The MZ604 should work.

Thank you,

-Peter

Hello Peter,

Informations about my tablet :
Model : MZ604
Android 3.1

When i launch a unity app with qualcomm ar, the app crashes as soon as the ARCamera starts (the app is ok when navigating in the menu). I've also tried a simple app with just one ARCamera in the scene and nothing else.

When i launch a sample (ImageTarget) compiled with the sdk and eclipse, it doesn't crash but display a msg about network connection, even if wifi is connected at the first launch of the app. I'm sure wifi is working since this was the only way for me to get the apk.

I tried on other devices with no problem, only this tablet seems to be incompatible..

Thanks for helping

Hello jchennequin,

Can you tell me the model of your device as found in Settings -> About Tablet . You should see MZ60x or Xoom. Can you also tell me what version of Android you are running.

Have you tried one of the Sample applications? Do they run on your tablet?

Thank you,

-Peter

Just some words to say I've tested all of these points

1. Is your device connected to a wifi network with an internet connection?
2. Can you load a webpage using the Browser app?
3. Can you load an webpage at an https address?
4. Is the date and time on your device are set correctly?

All is ok (date is sync by network). I've desinstalled and reinstalled 4x the apk, checking network is still on, but i get always the same error.

I've installed the qualcomm sdk and i managed to get a .apk from the "imageTarget" sample that was transfered via mail to my tablet (so i can tell that the tab is connected to a network).
The application launches but a message pops up and says :

"Network connection required to initialize camera settings. Please check your connection and restart the application. If you are still experiencing problems, then your device may not be currently supported."

The same .apk was downloaded on my HTC Sensation and works very well, even if i switch off wifi and 3G...
Why the sample application doesn't tell me to connect my phone and works anyway, whereas it doesn't on my tablet and tells me to connect it to the network even when it's connected ?

Very strange, maybe i don't understand what being connected means...

Edit : I've just tried turning on Airplane mode, then turning on WiFi in the device settings but it didn't solve the problem.

I've connected the tablet to a wifi hotspot and tried again, but the application (built with Unity 3.3) blinks and quits as soon as the ARCamera is active.

I'll try again with internet access. May i ask why is this for ? I'll try to find some information about that but if you have a quick answer i'm interested.

Thanks

Have you checked that it has access to the internet?

Hi

Unfortunately the problem is not solved by switching to Unity 3.3. A minimal scene with just an ARCamera is ok on my HTC Sensation but still doesn't work on the tablet (blinks then immediately quits).
I've installed Unity3.3 (in a PgmFiles/Unity33 folder) without uninstalling Unity3.4 (in PgmFiles/Unity folder), did you suggest a complete uninstall of 3.4 ?

Edit : I've removed the 3.4 installation and reinstalled 3.3 in the default ProgramFiles/Unity folder, launched the qcar unity installer, but the result is the same, crash with the tablet.
