Dataset exists but could not be loaded Unity 5 Vuforia 4.2

Hello,

In my latest project I am getting this error:

"Dataset exists:

Dataset XXXXXX could not be loaded and cannot be activated."

This happens when playing in iOS and I get this error in Xcode console. In the project there are also frame markers and work OK, but the image targets from the dataset doesn't work.

Is this some kind of known issue? I haven't seen this kind of problems in my other projects. Thank you for your help.

Details:

- Unity 5.1.0p1

- Vuforia 4.2.3

- Xcode 6.3

- Tested on iPad with iOS 7 doesn't work

- Tested on android works

this worked for me too. i am developing on vuforia 6 beta with hololens.

Yes, the demo works fine.

 

I will try to import my own dataset into that demo as soon as possible and see if it still works, but I dont really want to re-create my own project inside the demo.

I've tried all the methods mentioned, I still cannot load the dataset.

 

I build on a Mac Mini

I have a single dataset

no wierd characters, only proper slashes in my paths

I have the proper checkboxes checked

I deleted the plugin and dataset and reimported them

I made sure all the streaming assets have rights to read, write and execute

The project built for android works properly

 

Any further suggestions?

Thank you Juan for sharing your solution and findings. It seems that moving Vuforia Unity projects between Mac and Windows can cause issues. To re-cap:

  • Possible issues with file permissions between platforms
  • Cannot build a Vuforia Xcode project with Windows version of Unity
  • 3rd party Unity plug-in compatibility issues between platforms
  • File system path differences: StreamingAssets\QCAR (Win) vs StreamingAssets/QCAR (Mac)

It works! :D

I am not really sure what caused the problem but here is the information of how to proceed for anyone else with the same problem:

  • Reimport the Vuforia plugin entirelly (even if Unity says files are not new)
  • Delete, re-download and re-import the dataset

This is in my opinion what can cause the troubles:

  • You opened the project in a windows computer and it changed the properties of the files that Vuforia needs (could be permissions as I read somewhere in this forum)
  • Even if you are not building from windows, just the fact that the project was in windows at some point can break the vuforia plugin in mac. In this case you should reimport the plugin and dataset like I explained above.

I hope this fix other people problems.

  • Yes
  • Last time I tried, yes. Other projects with the same version of Vuforia/Unity and more datasets with more images work fine. Seems that something broke in the Vuforia plugin for this particular project :/

I will try reimporting the Vuforia project and cleaning everything, keep you informed

  • How many datasets are you loading?
  • How many targets total across the dataset[s]?
  • Are the datasets stored in Assets/StreamingAssets/QCAR/ folder?
  • If you import your dataset into the ImageTargets sample app, does it work?

HI dm3d,

 

No ...am using iMac.I have followed all the migration steps.Its so wierd , that it works fine in imac- Unity play mode but not working on the device.Please see if you could help me with this.Otherwise tell me where i should write a code to load and activate the dataset thorugh code.so that  i can try that workaround.

hi,

 

i too have the same problem.

 

dataset exists

dataset _________ couldnt not be loaded and cannot be activated

 

its using the devicedatabase .

 

The dataset works in Imac play mode....but the dataset doesnt load in ipad3.

 

I tried building a new file using the imagetarget sample..it works fine in both playmode and device

 

am using

Vuforia 4.2.3

unity 5.1.1

xcode 6.3.2

I am not loading the dataset in any special way. The configuration of the scene is the standard from the prefabs: ARCamera + ImageTarget. The camera behaviour has the dataset selected and activated and the image behaviour the right target selected.

How are you loading the dataset? Are you loading it dynamically from an external location?
