Device heating and load time issue while working with multiple i

Device heating and load time issue while working with multiple image targets

We are using Vuforia SDK v5.0.10 with Unity 5.3.1p1.

We have created 1 database containing 50 images and we are using that database only to detect those 50 images in 1 scene. For this, we had to place 50 image target prefabs in the scene.

We are just using Vuforia to play a sound on image detection and no AR object needs to be displayed. So, we have kept the mesh renderer disabled and it remains that way throughout the scene.

Now the problem we are facing are :

  1. It is taking 9-10 seconds to load this scene. As mentioned above, we have 50 image target prefabs in the scene and there is nothing else in this scene except for 2 UI buttons. So, we think these mutiple image target prefabs might be causing this (as each of them contain 3-4 vuforia scripts ?).
  2. Other problem we have noticed is that using this camera scene for detecting images for more than 10 minutes is causing the android devices to heat up for no reason. We are yet to check this on iOS devices but we observed this issue on 6-7 widely used android devices and all the devices are getting exceptionally heated indeed.

So, does anybody have a clue about what might be causing any of these issues ? and can someone guide if there is any better or efficient way to detect multiple image targets without using mutiple prefabs for each image ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !

Thanks for the reply dm3d,

but unfortunately our app is offline and we cannot use cloud for datasets. So, can you suggest any other workaround to avoid this heating issue ?

I have same issue when have 96 image target Ram run out to 430 MB, is anyway to reduce RAM since I have to use offline scan for our purpose. Thanks

Cloud Reco works such that your dataset is stored on the cloud and your app will only have the currently tracked target assigned to the prefab. You can only track one target at a time, though. For datasets, you can split up trackables into different datasets and dynamically load and unload them. When a dataset is loaded dynamically, all trackables in the dataset are instantiated.

See this FAQ for example: https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/faq/unity-load-dataset-setup-trackables-runtime
