Disable Vuforia on iOS app launch

February 7, 2016 - 5:37pm #1

'Allo,

When I start up a scene with the ARCamera prefab, Vuforia initializes on default.

This is problematic in my case because the user is unaware why the app is requesting access to the device's camera peripheral, and if they decline access, they'll have to go to their settings and then it's just a messy can of worms.

I need Vuforia to not get initialized on scene start, and then initialize it through a function call invoked by a UI button.

So, off -> on. What's the syntax?

You might just use Unity way of activating game objects.

In your App just activating your ARCamera when you need it and disable the other camera you are using to render your UI/App/etc.

Alternatively I think there is a script within Vuforia than asks automatically iOS to access camera. You can try and find this script and see how it works to work around it or use it to your advantage.
