Error with Vuforia play mode

March 18, 2015 - 4:23pm #1

Hello,

first of all, sorry for my bad english, I will try to be as clear as possible.

I have installed the "vuforia-unity-mobile-android-ios-4-0-103.unitypackage" and my webcam is a Logitech Webcam C170:

http://support.logitech.com/es_es/product/webcam-c170

I am using Unity Pro 4.6.2f1. Nothing more is installed, no plugins. I am using Windows XP SP3.

When I select the ARCamera prefab after it is in the Hierarchy, I see the attached error: "An error occurred while trying to enable Vuforia play mode"

In Camera Device only is "USB Video Device" when it should show "Webcam C170", the name of my webcam. When I enter the play mode, I don´t see the webcam image.

If I close Unity and open the software of Logitech, the webcam works and I see the image, so the webcam drivers are correct installed.

I have done another test with exactly the same configuration except for the Windows system and the drivers. I have used a Windows 8 system and the drivers for it of Logitech and all works perfect, the webcam, the AR plugin, etc.

The problem is that I must work in the first system, the windows XP SP3.

How I could solve this problem?

thank you very much

Igor

Vuforia 6 introduces support for Windows 64-bit Unity Editor. Please see our announcement for more details.

This is just horrible - why can we not  have play mode with Unity 64 bit on windows! Common!

That's confusing! But good to know! I'm also parallelly trying to develop VR demos. Won't the 32bit Unity cause any problem?? Is there a way I could have both 32 and 64bit Unity ? I know it sounds stupid but please let me know.

You will need to download and install the Unity 32-bit Editor. Since you are running Windows 64-bit, you will need to make sure to uncheck the "Unity Editor" option during setup or else the Unity installer will detect Windows 64-bit OS and install the 64-bit Unity Editor instead.

I'm using Unity 5.3.1 64-bit with Vuforia 5-5-9 64-bit with Windows 7 64bit. Despite this Vuforia is giving me an error in play mode and does not recognoize my Integrated Camera (which is working perfectly fine)

I'm also getting a message saying that it "failed to load" because "it expected 64 bit architecture" and it wants me to "recompile the plug-in"

Vuforia works with 64-bit Windows and Mac OS platforms. Vuforia on Windows needs the 32-bit version of Unity, however.

Windows XP is no longer supported. Others on the forum have posted similar issues with getting webcams to work in Unity on older OSes. Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) doesn't support webcam in Unity PlayMode, either.
