Extended Tracking issue

August 21, 2014 - 1:59am #1

Hello everyone,

i am developing an app on unity to show fornitures.
Some of these are chandeliers, so the 3D models must be placed on the ceiling while the marker is on the floor  ( none would ever attach the marker on the ceiling :p ).

What i am doing is placing the 3D object in the scene higher than the marker of course, and i thought that via extended tracking i could flip the device to watch the ceiling and show the 3D chandelier.

Just i see no models, seems like the extended tracking is not properly working, like if when the marker is out of the cameraview, models wont show.

Any tip?

Is persistent tracking a solution to this?

How to lock object in there place? Suppose user click button then lock all object in there place, so user easly interact to that object.

Please give me reply ASAP.

Thank You.

With a target placed on the floor, Extended Tracking will build it's plane of reference there. How far the tracking will extend can vary. More details can be found in our Extended Tracking Dev-Guide article:

https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/extended-tracking

As a test, you might want to add a 3D augmentation object to your target that matches the height of the physical room. This will allow you to see how well the 3D object stays locked in place on the floor target as you pan the camera up to the ceiling.

Also worth reading is the "Known Issues" section of the Vuforia Unity Extension page which provides additional details about Extended Tracking:
