Force a new scan pass...

February 7, 2013 - 9:51am #1

We are working on a project that has similar markers that occasionally confuse Vuforia as to which one is in view and we are unable to make any marker changes at this point.  Is there a way to force Vuforia to make another scan pass so we can determine after maybe 3 scans after an initial marker is found if the average detected markers are of a certain type we can increase the accuracy of whcih marker was detected?

Thank you - it's impossible to not write run-on sentences when describing problems in AR... sigh.

There's not a graceful way to resample a target while its in view because you'd need to deinit and then reinit the tracker and that also requires you to stop and restart the camera. Both operations are accomplished by disabling and re-enabling the QCARBehaviour. But I suspect that repeatedly restarting the camera, and tracker, will be unacceptable due to its impact on the user experience and the lag this will create.

The second concern iswhether this would even be effective in enabling you to discern which target is in view by averaging detection events. When similar targets are mistaken for each other, there is typically a dominant target - they are not equally likely of being mistaken for each other. Is that what you're seeing?

Also is this occurring w/ device or cloud targets?
