Hand-drawn Image Targets

June 21, 2015 - 3:29pm #1

Hello,,

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried hand drawn image targets for augmented reality projects?

I was thinking it would be cool to have the image target on my hand, so it looks like I'm holding the object.  I used Microsoft Paint to create something simple; the image is a semi-colon and an upper case "F" which got a four star rating on the developer page. The image target works when printed out, but drawn on my hand it doesn't.

Anyone got any ideas? Maybe I have to draw it neater, or make a sloppier image in the first place?

I think if you draw the marker on your hand, the problem is that your hand is curvy and the marker gets streched and shrinked by your skin.

We use handrawn marker in out inkhunter ios app (demo GIF), but without vuforia. Just some custom openCV code, which far from abilites of Vuforia SDK.
